  E. Endemic Flora and Fauna

Fiber Orchid (Diplocaulobium utile Krzl.) which is genus of Orchidaceae is a typical endemic flora of South east Sulawesi. For local people, this kind of orchid is used as main component of producing traditional woven products, ornament box, hand bag, and mad edge ornament. This orchid is grown well in the area of 0 - 150 m above sea level.

The typical endemic fauna of South East Sulawesi is Anoa (Bubalus depressicornis (H.Smith) which is genus of Bovidae. It is look like buffalow but smaller in size, approximately as big as goat. The length of its body is about 175 cm, height 80 cm, and weight 200 kg. In emergency situation, Anoa is very dangerous. Habitat of Anoa is in low land forest and swamp. Anoa is an endangered animal according to Ordonansi Perlindungan Binatang Liar 1931 No.266. (Depdagri, 1995).
